We have teamed up with many other civil society organisations that work within or are connected to the housing sector.
Community Housing Providers, Homelessness specialist services, advocacy peak bodies such as Shelter NSW, Unions, Community Development organisations, are coming together to demand a solution for everyone. So everyone can have a home.
Australia's housing system is broken.
Homes are out of reach for too many Australians, either to buy or rent. Competition for rental properties is driving rental insecurity. There is a chronic undersupply of social affordable housing for low and middle-income earners. Our key workers can't afford to live in the communities they care for. And more and more people of every age are slipping through the net and ending up homeless.
With housing affordability firmly on the public agenda we now need to move the debate beyond home ownership, to the solutions - solutions that will provide a home for all Australians.
The campaign calls for urgent reforms across the housing continuum by re-balancing the tax settings; supporting larger scale investment in housing models such as community housing; improving renter’s rights to make it a genuine housing option offering real security; relieving chronic rental stress; and ending homelessness.
We're asking all parties to support the solutions so that our housing system works for everyone - people needing a roof over their heads, renters and home buyers.
