Training needs
The following proposals for training were discussed:
MDAA offers a nationally accredited course on Advocacy for Consumers. Course may be offered free of charge and participants can then chose to apply for assessment if they wish. It is proposed to offer two courses/year. First course can cover DOH new regulations and include sessions with cases/case-scenarios. The second course can cover advocacy and how to write support letters. Mary will try to book DOH’s Ashfield’s premises, develop the agenda and circulate a mailing list among the members of taskforce for comment/feedback.
Meeting with Department of Housing Multicultural Forum
Mary reported that DOH was unhappy with the meetings as there were too many turnovers of workers. We commented on their terms of reference and on membership, suggesting to include all the workers in the mailing list. Next meeting of the Multicultural Forum: 21/2/07 - 9:30-12:00, at Ashfield DOH.
NSW State election
Mary tabled information on websites that allow people to put housing as an important issue for next State Election. Running Campaigns are:
