Project on eligibility for housing assistance from the Department of Housing

Eligibility for housing assistance for larger families raised as a concern.

Private rental market issues

A list of workers who are to be approached to gather information for case studies was gathered. The case studies will document the private rental market barriers that refugees face. These case studies will be documented by Emily Vaughan, who is currently on a 3-month student placement with Shelter NSW.

Policy paper on the housing needs of refugees

The draft form of the policy paper on the housing needs of refugees can be found on the Shelter NSW website in the NESB Housing Taskforce section.

Feedback on suggested changes to the draft paper are to be emailed to Emily Vaughan at Shelter by September 7. Emily will then make the necessary changes to the policy paper, which will then be sent back to those involved, then, if nothing else is suggested it will be finalized.

General business

NESB Housing Taskforce Meeting needs to start approaching people for membership. Mary Perkins will send out a general invitation letter. Jasmina will talk with Amira from ACL. Mary Perkins will talk with ECC. Mira Mitrovich from NESH needs to be approached too.
